Byron has long been the sun kissed Hippie capital in Australia and magnet for those seeking alternate lifestyles. With no McDonalds or KFC in sight we loved the unique vibe of the cute shops and cafes.
Byron or the *Bay* as it is known by the locals has stunning long stretches of white beaches punctuated by pandanus trees heavy with fruit and clusters of rock formations which become rock pools when the tide rushes in. It is one of the most dog friendly beach areas with lots of mutts taking to the waves with strapping long haired tattooed surfers joining them.
